Cover Reveal - On Demon Wings by Karina Halle

If you haven't heard of the self-published series, Experiment in Terror, then you're definitely missing out on some exciting and haunting adventures written by the amazing Karina Halle. And thanks to the author herself, Karina has kindly allowed me the opportunity to reveal her new book cover! Without further ado, I will now present to you the cover of the 5th installment of the series called On Demon Wings!

I personally adore this cover and it's probably the best cover of the series. I love the colour, the girl floating off from the ground . . . the overall shine to it is brilliant. Gah! I can't stop staring at this book cover!

About On Demon Wings:

Everything has changed.

When the life you wanted has crumbled beneath your fingers, there’s nothing left to do but pick up the pieces and soldier on. You’ve done this before.

But what happens when you no longer feel like yourself anymore? When fires spontaneously start-up around you, when you hear growling coming from underneath your bed, and you no longer recognize your face in the mirror. What happens then?

Ghost-hunter Perry Palomino doesn’t have much time to find out. Now, the evil she used to hunt is a lot closer to home. It’s inside of her, taking over her life bit-by-terrifying bit, and there’s only one person who can help her.

If part of her doesn’t kill him first.

On Demon Wings Exclusive Excerpt:

We turned our attention back to the stage as the guitarist blasted out a generic solo.

“What did you do today anyway?” he asked conversationally, eying my beer like a hungry dog. I took a sip and handed it to him again.

“Not much. I went for a jog. Then ran into someone I didn’t want to see.”

“Ooooh,” he said with wag of his eyebrows.

“She’s a girl.”

“Ooooooooh.”

“No, she has a girlfriend.”

“Triple ooooh!”

I laughed and punched Ash in his arm, causing his beer to spill out sideways and onto his skate shoes. He looked down with acute disappointment, probably more for his lost beer than his shoes.

“Well, I guess that’s a sign to get another one,” I said and turned to make my way to the bar.

His face lit up. “Get two this time!”

“Yeah, yeah.” I waved at him and squeezed my way through the crowd to the bar at the side of the room. With the concrete floors, fold-up tables and drinks kept in camping coolers, the whole venue had this “let’s throw a party in my parent’s basement” kind of vibe.

Of course when the music is bad, the drink lineup is longer. There were five people in front of me and the ordering was going slow. I was tapping my combat boots impatiently and adjusting my Mastodon shirt when the dread-locked girl in front of me turned around and gave me the eye.

“Nice shirt,” she said. I couldn’t tell if she was being sarcastic or not. Her voice was very low, almost manly. Her eyes were red.

Not because she’d been crying. Her actual pupils were red.

She was wearing vibrant red contacts with streaks of gold in them. They were beautiful but deadly-looking and sent a shiver down the back of my spine.

“Thank you,” I said, my voice trembling slightly. I was suddenly very afraid and I didn’t know why. They were contacts, right?

She smiled, her red lips spreading slowly, until I saw all of her teeth.

Her very misshapen, sharp, dagger-like teeth.

Aside from the lipstick, she had the exact grin of a shark.

My eyes widened at the sight and a stabbing pain erupted from my stomach.

She continued smiling. A whiff of that foul, rotten smell that plagued the Port-Town bathroom came back and swirled around her, creating a wave of nausea throughout my body.

Then she took her eyes off of me and looked past my shoulder and smiled again. A tall, beefy man with long hair and a pentagram shirt walked up to her and put his arm around her shoulder.

“Hey babe,” he said. “Still waiting?”

She nodded and they both turned around so I was staring at the back of their heads and chatted to each other about how crap the band was.

For some reason I felt shaky at the incident and the stabbing in my stomach intensified. What the hell? Did that girl actually get her teeth shaped to look like that? Who in their right mind would do such a thing? My god, Portland was fucking weird sometimes.

So what do you guys think of the cover and the storyline?

City of Lost Souls Cover Reveal!

I wasn't going to put this cover up, but I thought what the hell. So what do you guys think? I absolutely love it! While I still think Clary's model is a bit too tall to the Clary I imagined in my head but whatever . . . it's the best cover of all The Mortal Instruments books and not to mention really beautiful!

Also if you haven't seen the USA Today Online article early this morning (yes I waited), which was the original site who posted this awesome cover, they also included an exclusive lovely-but-very-concerning prologue from the City of Lost Souls book. How cool is that? You can read the prologue by clicking the link here.

So what are your thoughts on the cover & prologue?

Aren't they both a killer?

Be sure to add this book to your goodreads to-read pile!

Which you can do here.

Insurgent Cover Reveal

Veronica Roth made her YA debut earlier this year with Divergent. Now the sequel won't be out until May 2012 and while the wait might be a killer . . . but to keep your excitement under control, let me present to you the cover of INSURGENT!

So what do you think? Personally for me I love that they kept the city down at the bottom of the page and I love the beautiful Amity symbol . . . but I think this sequel's cover isn't as strong as Divergent's fiery flame. Nonetheless I'm loving the vibe of this cover and I'm looking forward to seeing what Tris and Four will be up to next. Also be sure to check out an exclusive interview with Veronica Roth at EW which you can find here.

Cover Reveals of 2012

I don't know about you guys, but I think 2012 is THE YEAR of great book titles. Or - should I say I think 2012 is THE YEAR of great book covers! For this post I'm going to showcase a couple of my favourites so far (covers I'm come across on the likes of goodreads), and by far, these are the most gorgeous covers I've ever seen on a young adult book!

If you're not already drooling over these covers, then I don't know what's wrong with you. *smirks* Out of every single one I've shown you, the only cover that 'kind of' disappointed me was the HALLOWED book cover. It looks too much like the first cover UNEARTHLY and I was hoping for a brighter colour this time . . . but it's still really pretty. As for TEMPEST . . . I don't know about you guys but it instantly reminded me of Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush book series cover but nonetheless it's a VERY hot cover. As for my absolute favourite cover . . . while I love Kimberly Derting's third Body Finder installment cover - cause it's one of my BIG favourite series - but this time I would have to say my favourite is Brodi Ashton's Everneath cover! It's so . . . well, it's so WOW and very breathtaking. Especially when it comes to that beautiful RED DRESS! So, what book cover do you love the most out of this collection? What book are you most looking forward to reading?

Cover Reveals

Now I don't know about you guys, but I'm a cover-crazy fan! Covers, to me, are important when it comes to books. While some readers prefer looking at the storyline first as soon as they pick up a book - generally I do this for curiousity - but most of the time its the cover itself that catches me at first glance when I walk into a bookstore. For today's post, I'm showing you a couple of my favourite book covers for next year in 2012!

First up we have this one!

The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges

Description can be found on Goodreads here

I absolutely love this cover! For those who've read the description of the book will know this story is set in Russia - bless this author since I love me some Russia - and this particular cover totally suits the setting and the book title itself. So I'll definitely be picking this baby up when it's released next year!

Secondly, we have this cover!

Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer

No description at this time.

This book is the third installment of Cremer's Nightshade series and I absolutely love the cover . . . it's RED as blood. Love it! While I don't like the change of covers this series has gotten over the last few months, but this one is definitely an eye-catching cover!

And saving the best for last, we have my favourite cover of ALL!

The Nightmare Garden by Caitlin Kittredge

Description can be found on Goodreads here

This book is the sequel for Kittredge's first young adult book, The Iron Thorn, which I absolutely LOVED! The Iron Thorn had such an amazing cover too and again, the publishers have managed to create yet another beauty for this young adult series! I seriously can't wait to read this sequel and judging it by its cover, it's going to rock!

So, do you have any other favourite 2012 covers?

For me, I love love LOVE Jodi Meadows cover for her debut novel Incarnate.

Which is your favourite from the above covers?

For me, it would have to be The Nightmare Garden!

Cover Reveals

INCARNATE by Jodi Meadows

From Goodreads: About the only girl who is new in a world where everyone is perpetually reincarnated, and her quest is to discover why she was born, and what happened to the person she replaced.

Isn't this cover gorgeous?!?! While the book doesn't come until 2012, but I'm definitely looking forward to buying this book. Not only because it's such a beautiful cover (can't stop staring at it) but it's just . . . the story sounds fantastic too! I have a feeling 2012 is going to be a BIG year for us book readers and bloggers!
WINGS OF THE WICKED by Courtney Allison Moulton

From Goodreads:

Life as a Preliator is harder than Ellie imagined.

Balancing real life with responsibility of being Heaven's warrior is a challenge for Ellie. Her relationship with Will has become all business, though they both long for each other. And now that the secret of who she really is has come out, so have Hell's strongest reapers. Grown bold and more vicious, the demonic threaten her in the light of day and stalk her in the night.

She's been warned.

Cadan, the demonic reaper, comes to her with information about Bastian's new plan to destory Ellie's soul and use an ancient relic to wake all the souls of the damned and unleash them upon humanity. As she fights to stay ahead of Bastian's schemes, the revelations about those closest to her awaken a dark power within Ellie that threatens to destroy everything - including herself.

She'll be betrayed.

Treachery comes even from those she loves, and Ellie is broken by the deaths of those who stood beside her in this Heavenly war. Still, she must find a way to save the world, and her love for Will. If she fails, there will be hell to pay.

This is the sequel to Moulton's Angelfire debut novel. Even though her debut book was an alright read (you can see my review here), but I'm still looking forward Angelfire's sequel, WINGS OF THE WICKED, in 2012! While Angelfire remains the better cover this time round, but I'm glad they stuck with the same cover model and I love the over-the-shoulder look of Ellie's model. Except for the words. The thing about big titles is that it takes away the focus of the covers, but that's just me being OCD. haha. Anyway, the plot sounds interesting too.

So, what do you think of the covers?
Love or hate?

The Iron Knight Cover Reveal

Isn't it mouth-dropping beautiful? It's by far my favourite cover of the series and I'm so grateful to Julie Kagawa to be writing an Ash story, especially after the way she ended The Iron Queen and all that. Anyway, be sure to check online on June 15th, where the author herself will be revealing the back cover copy of THE IRON KNIGHT, and see all the burning questions answered about the series. But WOW, this cover is AH-MAZING!

So to my blog readers, what do you think of this cover? Love it or hate it?

Oh my Jem !

*soul floats away from body* I believe I have just died. Let me present to you, CLOCKWORK PRINCE's cover! And it's by far . . . my FAVOURITE cover of all the Cassandra Clare books! 1) Because it's so hot and 2) Because my beloved Jem is hot and 3) Jem is hotter than Will's cover model - so beat that WILL FANS! And did I mention the cover model for Jem is HOT? HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT! I want to kiss this cover! TEAM JEM!

So you guys, what do you think of the cover?

Are you Team Jem like me or Team Will?

SILENCE COVER REVEAL!

Holy WOW. Holy WOW WOW!

Honestly, this is one of the best covers I've EVER seen on a young adult book and it's the best cover of the Hush Hush series! FINALLY we get to see a cover featuring Patch and Nora - together at last! It's so beautiful, don't you think? The black-and-white photography of a winged, shirtless man in black jeans holding onto a young girl is so . . . magical that I can't even keep my eyes off it! So, consider it a job well done for the cover artist team! You guys totally blew this one out of the water!

Now thanks to Hollywood Crush, they also posted a lovely excerpt to Silence and it's making me feel very annoyed that I don't have a copy in my hands right now:

He closed the distance between us, and just when I thought he'd drawn me against him, he stopped, holding himself in check. I exhaled, trying not to cry. He leaned his elbow on the door jam, just above my ear. He smelled so devastatingly familiar, soap and spice, the heady scent bringing back a rush of memories so pleasurable, it only made the current moment that much more difficult to bear. I was seized by the desire to touch him. To trace my hands over his skin, to feel his arms tighten securely around me. I wanted him to nuzzle my neck, his whisper to tickle my ear as he said private words that belonged only to me. I wanted him near, so near, with no thought of letting go.

"This isn't over," I said. "After everything we've been through, you don't get the right to brush me off. I'm not letting you off that easily." I wasn't sure if it was a threat, my last stab at defiance, or irrational words spoken straight from my splintered heart.

"I want to protect you," Patch said quietly.

He stood so close. All strength and heat and silent power. I couldn't escape him, now or ever. He'd always be there, consuming my every thought, my heart locked in his hands; I was drawn to him by forces I couldn't control, let alone escape.

"But you didn't."

Like I said . . . HOLY WOW. HOLY WOW WOW.

Cover Reveals

I came across these new book covers floating all over the internet. Firstly, let's start with Andrea Cremer's young adult NIGHTSHADE series! Now the following two book covers are the new US versions for NIGHTSHADE and its sequel WOLFSBANE. To be honest, I think these particular covers have lost the magical 'touch' of the series - which the original cover HAD - but they still are really nice additions!

Now the next cover, I just love! I haven't seen a larger image yet of Brenna Yovanoff's THE SPACE BETWEEN cover, but from what I can see so far...it pretty much rocks! The red is a big stand out compared to her debut novel THE REPLACEMENT cover!

Now the next book cover that I really LOVE, is Lili St. Crow's final STRANGE ANGELS book cover! The cover model is the same one on the previous books, and I love the yellow-ish gold colour on this one! She always has great covers for this series! I think the only thing that ruins the cover is the vampire on the top-left hand corner, but other than that, I absolutely love it! It'll be sad when this series ends! Which means...no more Christophe!

Now, the next book cover that I'll show you guys is Marie Lu's book called LEGEND. For some reason, I love simple book covers! I can't wait to read this book!

When I saw Gabrielle Zevin's next book cover, I loved it! Not sure about the chocolate heart (though I'm sure it has to do with the story) but I love the simple white colour and the city background!

And finally, the last cover to be revealed...Australia's young author Alexandra Adornetto's HADES - the sequel to her HALO book. I love the cover but I think it pretty much destroyed the beauty of the first book cover! I like the first cover much better since it doesn't show anyone's face, but this one...sadly...looks strange! Especially the girl. The guy and the Hades-likeness is fine but the girl and her shimmering dress looks weird to me.

Cover Reveals

*larger images available closer to the release date*

Check out these COVER REVEALS! It's very exciting since all these featured covers are so beautiful in their own way. The first cover reveal is for Ally Condie's MATCHED Sequel, Crossed. I haven't yet read MATCHED but it is in my TO-READ book pile, but this cover totally beats the first book's cover! I love these covers because they're simple but very eye-catching! Love the shattering effect on this one!

The next cover reveal is the companion novel to Anna Perkin's ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS, titled Lola and the Boy Next Door! Now, I absolutely LOVEEEEEEEEEEDDDD Anna and the French Kiss and though these are new characters, but I'm sure I'll love this one too!

The third cover reveal is this beautiful gem! To be honest, I have no idea what to say about this beautiful cover featured here, a book called THE MEPHISTO COVENANT by Trinity Faegen! Isn't it just the most beautiful cover you've ever seen?

And finally, my last cover real...is for Laini Taylor's DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE book cover which is just so unusual and yet so OUT THERE in a good way! I love the colours!
