This week's question: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.
My answer: Hmmm let's see . . . honestly it would have to be contemporary! I'm a huge fantasy and sci-fi fan you see, so I don't usually read outside those two genres, especially when it comes to YA books. But lately, like over the last few years or so, I've read many contemporary books (mostly because I heard so many amazing things about this genre and I felt like I was missing out) that have suprised me a great deal.
To name a few books they are . . . Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, Epic Fail . . . the list is endless. And, I even love books written by some of my favourite contemp. authors which include the likes of Sarah Dessen, Elizabeth Scott, and Jennifer Echols!
What genre surprised you the most?

DeleteI'm not a contemporary girl either, but I LOOOOOOOOOVE Anna!! I think that's my favourite contemporary to date! Lola was cute too, though nothing can top Etienne St. Clair ;) But if you liked those ones, I think you'll really like My Life Next Door, Erin! It's sort of semi-similar, and probably my second favourite contemp next to Anna :)

DeleteWow, I so cannot relate :) I looove contemporary. Always have, always will. But all the books and authors you mentioned will probably turn every reader out there into a contemporary lover. Dessen, Perkins, Scott - amazing!
