My answer: To be honest, there ain't much tv shows that I love anymore...some have lost their sense of humour, others have just lost the plot completely. The only remaining show that I love right now is the Vampire Diaries!

So...Vampire Diaries! I love the books. But I love this show a hell of a lot more! Every ep. offers a little bit of romance, a little bit of action, a little bit of magic with some bloodsuckers along the way but most importantly...a little bit hotness! You have two hot Salvatore brothers - Stefan and Damon, you have the cute-but-hot Jeremy, the sensitive-but-slightly-cute Matt, and sooooo many others guys like Alaric and Tyler hanging around...what's not to love? Oh...and don't forget Elijah...but he's dead now which is a great tragedy. Bummer. Seriously...I was in love with that guy!

As for the plot, well I kind of doubt you guys have missed this show...because you would be crazy if you did! Anyway, if you haven't watched the show it's about a girl who looks like the brothers ex-love, but then she's kind of related to that girl, but then she finds out that they're vampires and now she fell in love with Stefan - the sexy brother that reminds me a lot of Yoda but anyway - and then...well to cut this short...there's romance and VAMPIRES! No, not the sparkling kind...the hot sexy kind that you can't get enough of!

The Review

Jeaniene Frost does it YET again! I rarely read adult books unless they have some supernatural content in them and from the very moment I read the first Night Huntress book a few years back...I was hooked from beginning to end, making Frost one of my favourite authors of ALL TIME! She talented, witty, and with every book she brings out, the more I fall in love with these characters - especially my darlings, Cat and Bones. What a team these two make! I mean, have you ever bumped into a old friend and realize just how much you miss them? That's how I feel whenever I pick up these books!

All of the strong features of the Night Huntress series are still here in This Side of the Grave: there's great world building, sharp-wit humor, awesome action scenes, a very steamy love scene that Frost always writes so well, and all the while...you have the pleasurable company of your favourite supporting cast including Mencheres, Vlad (gosh I love that guy so much, mainly because he makes me laugh so much!!) and many others that could take forever to mention my love for them. The only thing that's different this time is the fact that Cat and Bones's relationship is much stronger than the relationship you read about in the previous four books. And what I appreciated most about this, is that Cat and Bones are no longer running away from each other and having someone or rather something tearing them apart! Instead, they're are fighting together as one, which makes them my favourite fictional couple!

Without being spoilery - cause that would really suck, I can definitely say that Jeaniene Frost will never disappoint you with her books. She. Is. A. Writer. Legend. From beginning to end of her Night Huntress series and of This Side of the Grave, I can say that you'll NEVER get bored and there's NEVER a dull moment. Twists and turns, action and passion...to say at the least, expect some exciting new discoveries with Cat's new powers, some touching moments between Cat and Bones that make you smile, and some hellish drama that you can't help but crave for more!

Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton

The Review

There is a lot of YA paranormal fiction out there, but Moulton offered another entertaining book idea up onto the table. After admiring the pretty cover (cause it's very pretty when you have it in your little hands) and reading the book, readers can definitely tell that Courtney Allison Moulton is a very talented writer and every word flowed easily throughout beginning to end. My only problem was the fact it didn't offer anything different to most angel/demon books out there - what with the sometimes-helpless girl and the boy she wants but can't have, and the fact that I couldn't connect with the main character. Pity. Nonetheless, it was full of twists and turns that I appreciated.

When I first heard about this book, I loved the concept and the direction it was heading, but the only let down was the main character! She could be kickass at times - strong even - and I admired that about her, but then she would go straight back to being the nervous little girl...then, she lost me. Plus, how can anybody be so spoiled and rich? My parents would never buy me a $30,000 car like Ellie's parents. I mean, her father doesn't even like her from what I've read...so what's up with that? Secretly, I still think he's an inner reaper on the inside. Because he's abusive and just wrong.

But despite some dialogue mishaps (like a demon saying cliche evil lines and the likes of 'just you and me, baby') and certain events that I didn't necessarily agree with, what made this book interesting was the flashbacks and the demon-hunting action scenes. It kept the reader focused, in my opinion. As for the writing itself, the author certainly knew how to keep the reader engaged and knew how to pull off great action scenes...my only wish is that Ellie stops saying she can't do things and just get on with the fight...without being knocked around.

With two more books in the series, I can see that more is going to happen and more questions will be answered. The mythology was researched very well and the action scenes strengthened the book itself more than the character dialogue, and while the romance and some characters ran a little flat at times, I'm still looking forward to the next book that due out sometime in 2012! We know there's more to the characters than meets the eye, which I'm assured will have more of a part to play in the next book, so we'll leave it at that. No matter what I think, still pick yourself up a copy if you love the likes of Vampire Academy and the Fallen series!

This week's question: If you are a fan of Science Fiction, what is your favourite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...an inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

My answer: I haven't read too many Science Fiction books, at least in the young adult department, but I do love Across the Universe by Beth Revis. The story itself has some great film potential as it's set on a massive spaceship that's been travelling for a couple of hundred years to reach another planet, with a sideline story of romance that's between a girl who only knows the past, whereas the boy she falls for only knows the way of living in his future. If you haven't read it, do so!

Forsaken: The Demon Trappers by Jana Oliver

One thing's for sure - if she doesn't keep her wits about her there'll be hell to pay . . .

The Review

I find it very hard to write a review for this particular book. There were moments were I loved the book completely (and sometimes I couldn't stop reading until I knew what was going to happen next) but it's a love/hate relationship. First things first, I'm glad that I've read this book after seeing the gorgeous cover and I have to admit, Jana Oliver created a pretty awesome dystopian-like world. I think the only problem I had with this book was Riley herself and some of the other characters...her "love" interests.

I imagined Riley being this kickass demon trapper, but instead, I get a girl that's not really as kickass and complains a lot. I guess there is a sense of realism, with her acting like an almost normal teenager...but I kind of hoped she was like a Jace from Mortal Instruments...or something along those kickass lines. But that might be just me...you'll have to read it to be a judge of her character.

As for her suppose "love" interests, I don't really understand the whole guy character thing. Beck had too many attitude problems and you can tell he like likes Riley (I felt like strangling him sometimes), Ori was a complete mystery and I didn't really see any point of him being in the book, and the whole ordeal with Simon...unfortunately I just didn't feel the connection between him and Riley. He seemed more like the best friend than boyfriend material, plus he hardly knows Riley...and well...maybe things will improve in the sequel.

Other than that and the poorly distracting slang language that some of the people spoke, I loved the book. I loved the fast-paced action scenes, the demon trapper idea, and the whole necromancer thing...it was quite interesting to read about. The ending didn't really end on a cliffhanger, but I'm still pretty stoked to read the next book. The author leaves a lot of unanswered questions, so I'll definitely continue reading the book in this series!

The Review

Before I begin, this review is a little bit late...but I haven't had a chance. Anyway, I just want to say I love the Hunger Games and I love everything about the Hunger Games. With the last installment Mockingjay, I found myself a little disappointed in the book, more so with how it ended and whom Katniss ended up with. But despite a couple of things that happened, it was still a great read and a perfect end to one of the best trilogies that I've ever read.

So, my thoughts on the book?

Well, let's start with Katniss and Peeta. I understand her connection with him and with him being a really nice guy, though personally I've always been a Gale fan. But that's just me. I will say however, that Suzanne Collins is wonderful when it comes to writing her characters and navigating them through a great deal of loss, pain, emotion, change, and trauma. It's sometimes hard to read about and may leave you with a few tears here and there, but that's what makes Collins such an awesome writer. Not because of how she writes, but because she makes you have a strong attachment to her characters and feel as though you're losing your closest friends...which just fantastic!

Without revealing any spoilers (cause you would totally kill me), I will say that the ending was not how I liked for it to have ended...but everything was closed up nicely. Regardless with who I wanted Katniss to be with, who I wanted to live and die, this was probably my least favourite Hunger Games book. Some events in the book ran a little too slow for me, but as the pace picked up after the middle half...I found myself with full of surprises and I was glad that Collins's ending stayed true to how wars ended, how powerful and emotional and how real it can be.
