Follow Friday

Today's Follow Friday is hosted by Butterfly-O-Meter at Alison Can Read

This week's question: What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get your hands on a particular book?

My answer: I don't believe I've done anything THAT crazy to get a book. Most of the time I preorder book online or at a bookstore, so there's always a copy of a particular book waiting for me without going through all those crowds.

However, as a kid, when the Harry Potter series was releasing new books, I remember attending the book launches with several others and watching in awe when the store people opening the fresh boxes of HP books. There was heaps of kids running around the place, plenty of tag-along parents who were probably just as excited as their children, and then there was just me. It was a lot of fun watching those boxes, smelling the newness. One time I dressed up as Hermione and - since looking back on those days - I've totally realized I was too old for this fangal thing. Seriously . . . it was embarrassing to see little children dressing up and there was myself being one of them. Regrets people! Regrets . . .

Have a great weekend you guys!

  1. EEEEEE! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the first EVER book I pre-ordered. I went to the store that day (Borders) was the coolest. thing. ever.

I so wish I'd been reading them as a kid, and I'd really gotten to be part of the magic.

    I <3 this story XD

  3. Yes, Harry Potter was definitely epic. I can't say that I've done to much crazy stuff to get a book myself.

  6. OMG I remember the book launches!! Eeee! So much fun. I went to OOTP, HBP launches but I missed DH because it was pouring down with rain that morning and the goddamn car wouldn't start. Too far to walk =\ I paced the house like freaking crazy and drove everyone nuts until I got my hands on that damn book haha. SO COOL you dressed up as Hermione!! Why the heck would you regret that?! I wouldn't LOL. I never dressed up, but the manager at Big W dressed up as a wizard and waved his wand to 'magically' reveal the cloth covering the stack of OOTP books. Such fun :D

Gosh I miss those days... why are they over, Erin?! *wails* Write another book, J.K Rowling!

    1. It seems so long ago, doesn't it? I was there for the last three book launches. Heaps of fun. I could imagine you and your craziness for a HP book. Sounds like me actually. haha. It wasn't cool dressing up because when it came to the judging panel, I was made to go up and show off . . . only the rest were little kids. Seemed cool before but wasn't so cool afterward. haha. I'll stick to my imagination from now on.

I miss those days too! Our childhood has . . . gone. *cries* I miss coming up with theories over HP. Rowling doesn't need to write another book considering how much money she has made. But I agree she needs another book! SPIN-OFF!

    2. Noooess! Your childhood hasn't gone! I won't allow it! Get dressed up and watch the DVD's? We got dressed up for the DH2 premiere. There was the COOLEST. BELLATRIX. IMAGINABLE at the midnight screening. She even had the hair nailed :O

    3. Hahaha well I'm told my childhood is now over. Such a sad feeling. I always wanted to dress up as Bellatrix. Wanted her cool and crazy hair!

  7. Haha your mum must be a great one to do that. I made mine wait a few hours in line for two Richelle Mead signings. :)

  8. I went to Harry Potter midnight releases too! So much fun, and I couldn't wait to start reading the book (usually in the car on the way home). My roommates and I would all go together.

    1. Thanks for following Kary! Yeah I too have read many FF posts and it's mostly HP. Good to hear. I don't think many of us have done anything THAT crazy for a book. Well, not yet anyway. :) hehe
