Publisher: NLA Digital Liaison Platform LCC

Pages: 236pgs

The Story

Imagine waking up in a post-apocalyptic, nightmare world--and being told your whole life is but a dream. Skye Brown thought she was your typical teen--good grades, hot boyfriend, and an afterschool job that pays her to play videogames. But then she started having the dreams.

In her dreams, there is no Earth. Only Terra, a bleak, underground wasteland where people live in squalor and oppression. In her dreams, there is no Skye--only Mariah, a rebel leader fighting against a vile, dystopian regime. And then there's Dawn, a handsome, but haunted solider who sees her as but an empty shell of the girl he once love--a betrayer he vows to hate forever, despite what she sees deep in his eyes.

Now, ripped between Dark Siders and club kids, the mundane and the mystic, Skye finds herself in a fight against time--to learn who she really is, where she belongs..and why. The shocking truth will have her questioning her own reality...and her heart.

The Review

A big thanks to the publisher on netGalley for accepting my request in reading this book early!

I have read a lot of Mari Mancusi's work (more so with her young adult Blood Coven Vampire series) and have thoroughly enjoyed them in the past. So for her new post-apocalyptic type of book filled with mysteries, romance, fast-paced action and with a slight tinge of originality added onto it - while it may not have been perfect nor free of any flaws, but this book was still a very entertaining book at that.

Touching upon the idea of alternative universes, an aspect that I have always found very fascinating, was something that hooked me in straight away. Sure the characters didn't exactly captivate me in the way I hoped they would, but with the world within itself had really made up for everything else that happened in the book and with so many twists trailing behind this alternate world of Mancusi's . . . it was definitely a nice change to read about and I'm looking forward to seeing where else she'll be taking this book to and her characters as well.

Overall, ALTERNITY wasn't amazing, amazing but it had just the right amount of dystopian and sci-fi elements to entertain me. And clearly, with no real high expectations set at the beginning of the book, being entertained by a book is really all a reader can ask for and want in the end, so props to the author for entertaining me!
